I guess right now I’m technically in Irving, and the Cotton Bowl will be played in Arlington, but you get it1.
Ohio State and Miami held their media days Monday at AT&T Stadium.
That gave us an opportunity to talk to anyone we wanted to on the team, and I took advantage by hitting up a half-dozen guys and several coaches for their perspective on stuff.
It also produced a story at Press Pros Magazine about the Ohio State offensive line, which is under pressure to perform after a tough night in the Big Ten Championship Game.
I also wrote a column for Press Pros about Michigan hiring Kyle Whittingham, a move that kind of gets worse the more layers you pull back.
I combined all of my player interviews into one video for YouTube and the talks with the assistant coaches into another. You can always find all of those at my channel, but I like to link to them in the newsletter because I’m told readers like to have the text broken up when they are reading.
(And if you can subscribe to that YouTube channel, that would help me out because if I get enough subscribers and video views I can start monetizing that.)
Hopefully you appreciate the chance to see what guys have to say for themselves, including their mannerisms and moods that don’t always come across in a story, but if I embed too many videos let me know. This is an evolving product.

Monday was also Brian Hartline’s first time taking questions from Ohio State media since he was named the head coach at South Florida. (He did a presser down there but wasn’t available earlier this week when Ohio State had offensive interviews in Columbus.)
Although Day is going to call plays Wednesday night (and beyond if the Buckeyes win), Hartline said his role leading up to the game has not changed.
“Coach kind of made some comments on making sure I’m good. He was trying to look after me. He was like, ‘You’ve done a really good job.’ Some of the guys are trying to step up a little more from a day-to-day standpoint, maybe a little bit, but not much has changed,” Hartline said. “I think that we want to do a great job of having an edge and maximizing the next three games. Everything we’re doing here is for that purpose.”
Meanwhile, Miami coach Mario Cristobal admitted his staff will be challenged to try to use the early part of the game to figure out what changes Day might make to personnel usage and play calling.
“That’s something we got to get a feel early in the game how different it is from the Indiana game or from what they’ve done this year collectively in the 2025 season,” Cristobal said. “We’re going to have to get a feel, ‘Is it the same way they’re using the personnel? Are they using it differently? Are they using the same tempo or style of play? Are they changing it up?’
Cristobal and Day are scheduled to have their final pregame interviews Tuesday. It will actually be a joint press conference, which is typically what they do for these bowls.
I will be there for that so you can look for video highlights, and I’ll share if there is anything, well, worth sharing.
Sometimes by this time in the process they are running out of things to say, but you never know.
Between now and then, if you have any questions, feel free to send them my way!
As always, thanks for reading!
