Cus Words Sports is a newsletter published and written by Marcus Hartman, a veteran of more than 20 years covering the Buckeyes, Bengals, Reds and high school sports all over Southwest and West Central Ohio.

Marcus has followed the Buckeyes all over the Midwest and covered multiple Rose Bowls, Sugar Bowls, National Championship Games, the Cotton Bowl, Peach Bowl, Orange Bowl and more along with multiple NFL Combines, Bengals games, Reds Opening Days and NCAA Tournaments.

After nine years covering Ohio State and other Southwest Ohio sports for the Dayton Daily News, Springfield News-Sun and Journal News, he started this newsletter in July 2025 to bring original news and analysis to fans all over Ohio and beyond. Prior to that, he covered Ohio State football, women’s basketball and recruiting for Buckeye Sports Bulletin and wrote for FoxSports.com and Fox Sports Ohio.

Based in Clark County, Ohio, Marcus also covers the Buckeyes and high school sports for Press Pros Magazine, is a regular sports contributor for The Associated Press and writes about trending news, including sports and cultural phenomenons, for Men’s Journal.
